A night bombing raid on balloon shed near Quiery-la-Motte is undertaken by two Royal Naval Air Service Sopwith Camels.
Airplane raid on London; 3 machines penetrate defences, 14 killed, 87 injured.
Another source, more detail: 7 Gotha bombers (1 crash lands in Holland) and 3 Giants dispatched, 3 plus 1 (1 lost to Dover anti-aircraft fire) respectively bomb London, Waterloo Station damaged (127 civilian casualties).
Belgium: RNAS Handley Pages bomb Zeebrugge (nights until October 2) but 220 bombs fail to hit lock gates.

Southern Front
Italians improve position on Bainsizza Plateau, claiming 1,400 prisoners.
Another source, more detail: Italian 44th Division captures Na Kobil (2,552 ft) with 1,400 PoWs on Bainsizza Plateau (600 more on September 30), but victorious General Papa killed there on October 5.

I think it's so fascinating to read all of these "little things" that happened almost every day that probably no one even noticed for more than a few minutes. Gecko, I've really enjoyed this series. Thanks!

The General Officer Commanding of the Royal Flying Corps in France is informed that enemy raids on England are interrupting munitions production and is tasked to undertake immediate action against German objectives that could be reached from Nancy. In response, the 41st Wing is formed to undertake independent bombing operations against targets inside Germany.

Interesting that Columbia University expelled those two professors for their pacifist views. Today, it would almost more likely be the opposite. (Or so it seems)
