SInce we're talking about birds, did anyone ever hear the story about the bird in the turd?

Best I can remember it from I think my high school days it went something like this ...
An ol' Minnesota farmer is riding in his one-horse drawn wagon along an old road on a cold winter's day when he looks up and notices a small bird in the road. Bringing his wagon to a halt, he climbs down and goes over to the bird and realizes the poor thing is going to freeze to death if left like that. Looking back at his wagon, he sees the horse has just deposited a large, warm turd onto the road and an idea hits him. Carrying the bird over, he gently sets it down into the turd which he hopes will warm it back up. Then, climbing back onto his wagon, he continues down the road.
Sure enough, the warmth of the horse dropping gradually revives the bird and it starts to chirp. Softly at first, but more loudly as it regains it's strength.
A fox, walking through the woods hears the chirping and goes to investigate. Seeing the little bird chirping away, the wiley fox darts out onto the road and gobbles the little bird right down.
There's a moral to the story.
The one that puts you into a mess isn't always your enemy.
And the one who gets you out isn't always your friend.
But, most importantly, when you're in it up to your neck .... don't sing.
