Yes...the Army places a lot of restrictions on recruitments...including weight to height requirements, being flat-foot, having asthma, etc...I tried to reactivate my commission when we went to Iraq...I was there for the first one in 1991, but I have developed Asthma as a result of an illness I had, and so they would not accept me in even though they are desparate. I do understand about the Army extending his AR to IRR...that is the modern day answer to the draft! I send you and your soldier my best wishes...hang in there!!!

I'd don't have an opinion to post that will be less then popular with the tone of the thread to date... so I will start with best of luck LAW and Mr. LAW... thank him for doing the country's duty.
I'm not a military woman, wife, daughter, sister... but I greatly respect our military, including the man that is named commander in chief. Yes, he's an elected official and many disagree with him (make sure your voice is heard on election day, if everyone hates him I'd like to know how he got elected... or the senators... or the representatives... you get the idea). I don't like the idea of war or the casualties that come with it. But war and it's casualties are a known risk of the job that our finest enlist for with the military. When I hear people screaming about wanting their loved one home, I can't begin to imagine the emotion of having a loved one in harms way a half a world away, but I'm pretty sure that it should have been a known possibility on the day they signed their life to the US Government for "x" years. The thing that truly amazes me are those like divot109 who know the price... experienced the price of war, and try to be there with their "brothers" for the next go round. It's a shame that the US Gov't doesn't allow folks like him to do so. But we must understand that someone who is in less than perfect health is a harm to himself and every other miltary person he is working with on a field. Just as I don't want someone with AIDS sticking me with a needle at a hospital, I don't want someone who is at risk of a heart attack due to a medical condition protecting my country. Call me selfish...

I agree with you,I'm 61,& have a 10% disability from VN.I'd still go back in tomorrow,but I have Diabetes now.I am very strong but when the Diabetes acts up(as in low blood sugars).It knocks you on your ass & everyone else,
would be endangered.I work-out everyday,but when the Diabetes,acts up,
you're worthless! Irish
