They said the opposite - that the sleeved ones are quieter than the ball bearing ones. Oh well, it was $3 for the fan. I'm also having them install a $50 AGP GeForce 4 card, with 64MB RAM on it, which is what I have the shared RAM set to. And they have my permission to change my secondary 13GB drive to primary, format it, and reinstall Win98SE. Hopefully I'll have it back tomorrow or Thursday.

ahh the Geforce 4 MX, I guess its not a terrible card for the machine you have, but it pisses me off when they call it a Geforce 4 MX, but its only one step ahead of the Geforce 2 MX.
(end rant)

Okay, so they installed the new video card (which was $20 more than the display said on Tuesday, but it's possible that the card was on the wrong spot, because the ones with TVout (SVIDEO out) go for higher AND there wasn't another card that was AGP AND had 64MB DDR RAM. SDR RAM yes, but not DDR (single data rate and double data rate for those of you that don't know).
PLUS, despite my telling them NOT to TOUCH THE ****ing C DRIVE, they ****ed around with the registry on it anyway, so I'm having to uninstall/reinstall lots of stuff. Already did the wireless adapter. Still need to reinstall McAfee Virusscan, AND AIM. Grrrrrr.
Suffice to say I am NOT GOING BACK to the tigerdirect.com outlet store FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER.
Oh, and DucKon XII (see www.duckon.org) is this weekend, so don't expect to see me on here anyway.

Quickie update:
ALPS color printer works ok.
Sound, microphone and video work ok.
DVD playback works fine for regions 0, 1 and 2, with NTSC and PAL conversions! YAY!
Wireless network driver works ok (or I wouldn't be here)
Hooking up my Sony Cybershot and copying pics from it worked fine (no, nothing you pervs would be interested in).
Uninstalled and reinstalled Yahoo Messenger and AIM, and they work.
Have NOT checked my scanner yet.
Still need to reinstall McAfee VirusScan 7 and cd-burning software.
Webcam does NOT work. It's plugged into a video capture card, and it's not even detected under Device Manager.
*sigh*
More work to be done.
See ya guys later, I gotta get to DucKon.

Yep, so I'm back. I'll probably start posting regularly again next week, and try to get up on topics and posts I missed.
Oh and read all of my 0 PMs. That shouldn't be hard

Got the VirusScan reinstalled and re-updated. Even updated *gasp* to IE/OE 6. Uninstalled and reinstalled Java, going to 1.4.1_03.
Still no webcam, still dunno about the scanner. Or my old b/w printer for that matter (the laser printer I won for a $1 raffle ticket). And now the spacebar on my nearly 6 year old keyboard is acting up. Oh well, at least those arecheap.
Anyone here use Yahoo a lot and know why it would want to crash all the time every time I try to start it? Even after a reboot? The only way around it seems to be uninstalling Yahoo Messenger and then reinstalling it again.

I'm afraid the uninstall/reinstall is what i have had to do when yahell has a shit fit!
Yahoo also suggests that when you reinstall....that you shut down all unneccessary programs.....I use control alt delete...task manager pops up and i shut them down from there...
But hey thats just me *L*
