Wyndhy I do not fiddle with it at all, once set you do not have to do anything as long as the dish is not moved. As for outages it only happens during the worst thunderstorms for me, in the last year I might have lost 1 to 2 hours(closer to 1) because of storms. And my DVR will record for 100hrs and I can watch one show, watch one recorded show and record another all at the same time. :dizzy:

/me suddenly realizes that she watches about 2 hours of TV a week and thus is happy she doesn't need cable.
My DSL has worked pretty well for the past 5 years.....and I am happy for that. But I have Time Warner.

It's Dish network, I have the full 180 channels plus local channels, no special channels, plus it is $5/mo/mo for dvr and $5/mo for second tv hook-up. It runs $62.97 a month. And it will be perfect when I can fast forward live tv.

I have comcast for both tv and internet and haven't had many problems. There was an article in the paper today as a matter of fact stating they were having trouble with their domain system, so I guess it just depends where you live.

wyndhy, I have Directv due to some less than pleasant things I had heard about Dish (might have changed, but at the time you couldn't purchase the equipment and always and forever had a rental charge) and I wanted NFL Sunday Ticket which is a Directv feature. I pay about $55 a month for the package I have which is everything but the HBO type channels. Included in that is my charge of $5 for local channels and $5 for a second receiver. I do not have dvr's yet on the two tvs, but I think it's also $5. Mine goes out probably about 3-4 hours a year... and it's typically in terrible storms. The only thing that really bothers me is I instinctively go to the tv to see the live doppler radar during a storm But even with the few disadvantages I'd never go back to cable.

I don't watch much tv either now that you mention it... what the heck am I paying for satellite for? I guess because when I do watch it, much of what I like isn't on the antenna

Comcast is currently smokin my ass for $134 a month, includes internet, basuc, digital, & several premium channels that the missus can't bring herself to give up...which means I have aprox. 1588321447536 channels, & nothing worth watching, esp if the Braves are on Turner South which local Comcrap refuses to carry...altho having all the premium channels can be fun when Real Sex 255 is on, or we can turn over to HBOLatin & watch movies in Spanish...

we are saying piss off to comcast - going the direct tv, dsl, regular old land line phone route as of two weeks from yesterday. and saving about 40$ a month in the process.
*does a happy dance while thumbing my nose and mooning comcast*...but not too close, my butt is still sore from the last time they sodomized me
