The BBC News website ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi.html ) has won the main award for general excellence in journalism prize at the Online News Association awards in Hollywood.

This latest recognition for the BBC News website, was won by beating CNN.com, WashingtonPost.com, and the Wall Street Journal website.

Just two quotes from the judges in re the BBC’s site:

"They provide breaking news around the world and around the clock in multiple languages."
"The site is well-designed and easy to navigate... They set the standard for online news."
