Old habits die hard. Lots of these things are tribal and vendetta based. You hit me and I will hit you and your loved ones. A number of years ago they did research to see how long it would take for your average modern person to deal with the sudden fall of modern civilization. They worked out it would take 4 days for the average person to become a hunter, gather. Or a savage.
