We just got back from Joliet. Saw my brother today. They kept him going so we could spend some hours with him. They'll keep doing those things that will avoid pain, but will remove him from other medications this evening ... probably have already. The doctor believes it could be over within a few hours at most.

At least we got to see him and we hope from minor hand squeezes and some wrinkled eyebrows that he may have been aware that we were there. Stayed for about 6 hours and got to spend time with all his family which was very nice.

As much as we'd always like things to get better ... the truth is that would truly take a miracle of the first order. I think I'm taking it pretty well ... I think I only lost it briefly before we left to go up to Joliet and briefly as we said our last goodbyes before we had to get back on the road.

His family is dealing reasonably well and that's a blessing. One daughter doesn't want to accept the reality and so I know this will be hard on her. But even she is trying.

Thank you all for your love and support. I told my brother I knew of many really terrific people who were sending their support for all of us. You really are terrific people ... all of you. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Will let you know what ever the final arrangements end up being ... just to provide closure of sorts (for me, maybe).
