welcome to this side of the pond lovie.
merely thumping your fish in the head can be considered animal cruelty here and with the right judge a felony. I was trying to figure out how you were stunning them, I'd be worried I'd gouge an eye or do more harm than good "thumping" them.
The rest of the vets I have never worked with and therefore would not allow me to put him down either. I had one dog that attacked my father, didn't draw blood, but attacked dad for walking into the kennel. The vets suggestion instead of putting a DOCUMENTED BITER down? Sell him as a guard dog, should be able to get good money for him since he's bitten someone. DVM told me to sell an aggressive dog, great I just want to get sued.
Vets are so busy kissing the ass of HSUS they've forgotten that some decisions are hard to make and you've got to consider that perhaps the owner of the animal MIGHT know what the fuck they're talking about.
We do things differently here, right or wrong it's different. I have seen the reaction of a dogs vitals when the Eutha-sol is administered, everything slows and stops, there is no pain there is no panic 9 times out of 10, I don't know how much pain there is involved in a gunshot, never been shot before. I would dread the thought of the dog turning his head at the wrong moment and not getting a clean one shot one kill. I have seen one dog fight the eutha-sol it was not pretty. white German Shepherd hit by a car, he didn't want to give up.
I'm done with this discussion.
