Ramada, Hilton, Marriott...all big chain hotels with big price tickets and not all that much better than a reputable motel. Just might not be able to get room service, but you can order from the local pizza joint (phone book in drawer along with bible...or on a table). Some motels have menus in the room for convience. Give the name of the motel/hotel and the room number and they'll be there.

I know of what I speak. I've worked as a maid in both scenarios. TRUST me on conditions!

A Super 8 or Motel 6 isn't bad for the buck and is as clean as required by law/inspection. They NEVER ask how long you are planning to stay and you have a 12-24 hour period if you pay the full price...no matter the time of arrival! If you arrive at 2am and the checkout time is 11am...you don't have to leave at 11am! Be sure to ask the policy of checkin and checkout time when registering. It should be posted in the lobby or on the inside of the door in your room or on a register receipt.

Make sure you put the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign on the outside knob no matter what time you arrive! Take it off when you leave. Lock the door with ALL locks available. If the room was to your liking...leave a "tid-bit" for the maid. Doesn't matter if you messed up the room...just don't break anything and don't steal anything. It's not stealing if you take the shampoos and conditioners...but leave the towels and washcloths (and bathrobes, if provided). DON'T leave used condoms all over the place (Ewww...maids hate that!), but DO use the condoms and dispose in the trash!

First thing to do when entering a motel/hotel room? TAKE THE COMFORTER OFF OF THE BED AND PUT IT IN A CORNER. NOW GO WASH YOUR HANDS! The reason? The room is cleaned daily and the sheets are removed and washed/bleached daily...but the comforter is only ever changed/cleaned monthly (maybe less...maybe more)...for water conservation/money conservation. They assume we don't do anything atop the comforter. Haaaaaaaaaaa! I've done some of my best stuff up there before I ever became a maid and realized what's on the thing! Trust me...take it off!

The phone, remote and TV are barely ever wiped...let alone disinfected. Bring some disinfectant wipes if it's a phobia for you. Don't make that a priority though...or your lady will think you are nuts! Just take charge on entrance and get that comforter off!

If you need one...you can dial up the front desk (numbers provided by the phone) and ask for a wake up call. They might provide a clock but it doesn't hurt to have back-up in case of a power failure and it's important for you to wake at a certain time...anytime! There is always someone in charge of wake up calls.

No towels? No pillows? No blankets? Heater broke? Heater won't stop? Etc...etc...Any problems? You paid for the room. Call the front desk and tell them. Keep calling or go to them to resolve the problem. I once had a room that smelled like cat pee (to say it nicely) and the maid came and sprayed a banana deodorizer all over the room. Soon it smelled like cat pee AND bananas. YIKES! Needless to say, we were moved to another room ASAP when I went to management/front desk and explained the problem and made them come smell! Got a fine upgrade for that matter. But I digress...

Anyway hun...you rent the room for as long as you need it...even if you don't need it as long as you can have it!

Have fun!

P.S. You could even go online and look up local motels/hotels or even a local mom-and-pop place (we have a quaint motel round here called "Cab Fryes") and find out the prices and, if you are so inclined, make reservations, preferences, inquiries...etc. Just an afterthought! Have fun hun!

OMG!!!!!! I never gave the comforter a thought.........no wonder I could'nt stand the smell of the comforter in a room I rented once. "ewwwww"
Our next room rental will be different.

Oh, and Thank You Lixy!!!!
