Rolling Stones censored in China
Can you imagine!?!
Let's spend the (bleep) night together, Stones songs banned from Chinese tour dates Wednesday, March 12, 2003 BEIJING (AP) - The Chinese government has ordered the Rolling Stones to cut four of their best-known hits from next month's mainland shows. The band will not be allowed to play Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Woman, Beast of Burden or Let's Spend the Night Together, said Chen Jixin, head of Beijing Time New Century Entertainment, a concert organizer behind the two China dates. Chen said she didn't know why the government had banned the four songs. The Chinese Culture Ministry said no one was immediately available for comment. |
but, they are still being allowed to play in a communist country,
that has to say something. |
True, true! I just can't imagine Jagger censoring himself.
|
They censored or changed their lyrics the 3 times they were on Ed Sullivan back in the day, nothing new for them.
|
Skip they were just kids way back then. LOL
P.S. yes I saw them on the Ed Sullivan Shoe |
wonder what they would do if Cradle of Filth were going?
Heard them once and couldn't understand a word! Glad that the Stones have added Scotland to their tour!!!!!!!! |
LOL Scarecrow - did you spell it "Shoe" to match Sullivan's pronounciation? :)

They censor a lot on the internet over there. It takes some digging to find the news. Next trip I'm expecting to have to show my passport to use an internet cafe. (Last trip there was an ID requirement but it wasn't set up with foreigners in mind and they were doing the sensible thing of ignoring it in my case. When the sign-in sheet has no way of identifying what type of ID was presented you can't list non-standard ID.) |
Yes I did Steph, just loved to hear him talking to guest on the show.
