?? Food ??

What foods do you like to eat when you are just not feeling well?

maddy 06-18-2006 04:35 PM

I typically don't eat when I don't feel well. I have an irrational fear of throwing up (haven't done it in about 20 years!). If I'm being slightly rational and recognize that I must eat, I stick to very bland foods. When I was sick with a stomach thing a few months ago I ate the following:

oatmeal
water
applesauce
broth

i like toast... sometimes without any butter etc if i feel sick
soup can be good too

i hope you are OK Lillith, and if not i hope you feel better soon.

I'm fine just trying to put together a grocery list.

Salacious 06-18-2006 05:29 PM

popsicles

the earthling 2 06-18-2006 05:31 PM

Mexican food seems to calm my stomach for some odd reason.

Sharni 06-18-2006 06:04 PM

Toast and tea

maddy 06-18-2006 06:23 PM

jello

Salacious 06-18-2006 06:43 PM

ginger ale

Lilith 06-18-2006 06:49 PM

so far so good..

I bought ginger ale, jello, yummy teas, and I have oatmeal and applesauce.

I need to send Mr. for popsicles once I get home.

And I made a pot of chicken noodle soup and put it all in the freezer.

Great suggestions so far.

crackers

sprite or 7 up is something they told me to drink after my surgeries....helps with the gases they blow you up with.

I eat carbs...I really like spaghetti with just parmesan and butter on it.

Also...ice cream. Mint chip if possible. ;)

Loulabelle 06-19-2006 01:27 AM

Orange juice and summer fruits like melon, peaches, cherries and strawberries seem to have been the only things that have got me through all the morning (afternoon and night) sickness.

wyndhy 06-19-2006 12:59 PM

beef barley soup ... for when you get sick of the chicken noodlle :D

WildIrish 06-19-2006 01:49 PM

I've always gone for toast with butter and cinnamon sugar. I don't know if it helps physically, but it's what my mommy used to give me so it brings me back to a more nurtured point in my life.

Let me add Tapioca Pudding to the list.

Lilith 06-19-2006 02:40 PM

tapioca feels like :sperm:

Aqua 06-19-2006 02:53 PM

Nothing seems be good when I'm not feeling well. Oatmeal sounds like a good bet though, as well as the toast.

as far as comfort food goes...i like mac n cheese.

i just had a memory of after about 4 or five days since my last c-sec, when i wasn't feeling just plain bad but still had to stay immobile-ish, i craved a bacon sammich on toasted sunflower seed bread with a glass of five alive...my mommy made one for me. :D

Lilith 06-19-2006 03:15 PM

OMG I want that now!

Lilith 06-19-2006 03:15 PM

Oh and I am super giddy hyper from being a nervous fucking wreck :p

wyndhy 06-19-2006 03:17 PM

i figured^^^:D
i would be, too. i'd tell you to chill but we both know that's crap and there is no way that's gonna happen. just try and remember that things are never as bad as you think they are gonna be.

Lilith 06-19-2006 03:22 PM

do you have a good recipe for beef barley soup?

wyndhy 06-19-2006 03:46 PM

not really...i usually wing it.

thyme is anherb i usually use (small amounts), parsley, a teeny bit of nutmeg, carrots, celery, largish white beans if i have em, green beans or wax beans, tomato (stewed), onion, corn, potato
sometimes - when i really want soup but i don't have the means to make stock - i use this stuff called better than bullion as my base. it's like bullion but it's sorta wet and they sell it in a jar. stuff tastes way better than canned/boxed/dry bullion.

wyndhy 06-19-2006 03:53 PM

you should also add barley and beef to those ingredients:p
