New Camera!
 

With all the £££'s I've saved from stopping smoking, I went out and got another camera the other day!

Now, in addition to my Nikon F65 SLR and Fuji compact digital, I now have a Nikon D50 D-SLR. I opted for that over the very similar spec'd Minolta cos the lenses I have for my "ordinary" SLR fit and work on the D50! Bonus!!

:( Still learning how to "drive" it yet, so it may be a while before there's any posts from it!

Well, these are the first few pics from my new camera - hope you like.

The first one is of an Episcopalian Church I pass when I take my daughter to school; this was "snatched" out the car window, just before the lights changed!!

This one is of blocks of flats (apartments?) that are part of the area where I work. (At one time, they were the highest accommodation buildings in Europe!)

My daughter took this while we were parked at the side of the road.

This is one of a few I took while I was waiting for my daughter to get her pony ready....... the farrier knew I was there, but his concentration never faltered for a second.

Kinda important, as the shoes are about 800°F at this point!

This one I took on on Monday night...... I saw the sunset as I was driving to do herself's horses. I took it just as I my grip on the barbed wire fence was starting to go, hence it's a bit blurred! (Ripped two fingers a bit, too, but c'est la vie!!)

Hope to get some others re-sized in the next day or two.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I was really pleased with the church one in particular - like I said, it was very much a "spur of the moment" pic, with absolutely NO retouching or anything. (No photoshop, as yet, and my other prog would take to damn long!!)

Here's another. I took this on Sunday, when we all went to a training day for the Pony Club. Herself's "wee boy" was one of the star turns, and this is him at full stretch.

Some of you might remember the likeness from the pix of the necklace I had made for herself's Xmas. (OK, maybe not!! LOL!!)

Took these on thursday afternoon. They're of three out of four tower blocks we cover, and I liked the way the light makes them seem quite clean and - almost - nice looking. In reality, they look like crap, inside AND out!

I laughed so loud and long that i woke my daughter up from her nap, and she started laughing because i was laughing.

Ok i am back...Wonderful pics! I love the angles of the block of flats.

BUT....i HAD to go back and check out Sprite poking his tongue out! and laugh still!

Whoaa!! Took me back to my High School days and Microdot weekends!!

No new pics recently, for obvious reasons PLUS the monitor on the camera broke (well, burnt out!!!!) :(

On the plus side...............



..... it's now 7 MONTHS since I last had a smoke!!!

I have a D50 as well. Love it. Now I just need to save for the lenses I want... :rolleyes:

The pictures are fantastic, DM. I also love the horse sticking his tongue out. That's delightful. And the building shots are neat. I love sharp angles and the contrasts they often cause.

These two are part of a series of "experiments" with settings - I think they came out OK though.

I had another one to post here, of Sprite bucking - must be on the memory stick I left at work.........

Very good pics. It is nice to see places people are from. Even everyday photos...My favorite is the sunset. I miss pics like those, mainly since I cant seem to slow down enough to take the time to look at them.
