Pixies Civil Defense- DENNIS

1 Attachment(s)
With today’s events in London, hurricane Dennis has lost the spotlight as it went to a class 4 storm. Some of our Florida Pixies have more than one major point of activity to be paying attention to.

While the disgusting action of man-made tragedy is repulsive because they don’t HAVE to happen, the destruction our natural environment can reek is still present and as about as controllable, so we have to watch this too.

I hope this thread doesn’t become an important one in the next few days.

Oldfart 07-08-2005 01:40 AM

Dennis doesn't sound like someone you want to come calling.

Lilith 07-08-2005 07:04 AM

He's gonna be nasty I fear.

imaginewithme 07-08-2005 07:24 AM

Oh man, am I scared this time. I'm probably more terrified because of sitting thru Hurricane Ivan last year, just waiting all night long for my roof to rip off. We have plans to leave this time. I can not stay here again. We have contacted two different people asking could we come that way. One is North Carolina, the other is close to Daytona, Florida.
This morning the news said its a category 4, what strenghth it looses by being in Cuba it will gain when it reaches the warm gulf.
Everyone please be careful and touch base as you can!

You know, IWM, I had this weird mis-read: at first glance, I saw "...touch yourself..."

Hey, if you have to buy the farm in a hurricane, you may as well enjoy the exit.

Irish 07-08-2005 11:58 AM

My wife & I recently bought a furnished home in W.Melbourne Fla,to winter
in.It is a very helpless feeling, knowing that you have to trust, your grounds-
keeper & maintenence man to close your awnings & watch over your
property. We vactioned there,a few weeks ago,& there is still alot of beachfront property, covered with blue tarps, because much of the damage,
hasn't been repaired yet! Irish

imaginewithme 07-08-2005 12:31 PM

I went out today to wrap up some things at my office....I could not believe the traffic. I am glad people are taking precaution but it was horrible. All the gas stations were packed with cars lined out at the highway. It's gonna be a long ride north.

Mr. IWM just called....what normally takes him about 35 minutes to get home took him over an hour due to traffic just stopped.
:(
Be safe everyone!!!

Steph 07-08-2005 12:34 PM

(((((((IWM))))))))

I hope the drive isn't too bad.

My prayers are with everyone dealing with this right now.

Irish 07-08-2005 12:50 PM

When we were in Fla recently,I noticed that MOST of the beach routes, had
signs that said "Evacuation Route".That's something that you never see,in
the NE! Irish
P.S.Why do the people, keep rebuilding,in the same place? Why do the Tax-
Payers keep paying for it?I'm constantly amazed,at the way the Taxpayer
gets screwed.I guess that this, should be in Stephs "Pet Peeve" thread.

Lilith 07-08-2005 02:40 PM

Almost a 5...geez when I'm done kissing my ass goodbye, any of you are welcome to :p :moon:

wyndhy 07-08-2005 02:42 PM

:yikes:
don't joke like that!
but i'll take you up on that :p :teleport: :shake: :slurp:

dicksbro 07-08-2005 02:45 PM

We're praying for all of you that could potentially be in the way of Dennis. Please, play it safe and let us know you're okay when the storm finally passes. Hopefully, it'll weaken some over Cuba and the that deeper waters are cool enough that it won't regain the strength it loses.

Lilith 07-08-2005 02:47 PM

Gas went up .10 in the past 24 hours here.

dicksbro 07-08-2005 02:49 PM

It went up $.25 (at a lot of the stations) here overnight and we're in a drought! Sheesh!

wyndhy 07-08-2005 02:53 PM

why isn't that considered price gouging?

Lilith 07-08-2005 02:55 PM

cause *mumbles something about oil men and the government*

WildIrish 07-08-2005 03:00 PM

Hey!!!! I'm sure our political leaders are just as impacted personally by the cost of consumable commodities as the rest of us are.

Why do you think he's trying so hard to learn to ride a bike!

Steph 07-08-2005 03:07 PM

Roflmao Wi

Pita 07-08-2005 03:11 PM

Fucking Dennis!! :bang:

I will be just fine this time being in Orlando. My prayers are for you all that are in its direct path. Get out the plywood. :(

davesgal 07-08-2005 04:22 PM

Here's another worrisome projected path...

Lilith 07-08-2005 05:31 PM

How many states with Pixies ladies does that path take you through?

Aqua 07-08-2005 05:39 PM

Several.

Think I'll make it to Florida before running out of steam?

Lilith 07-08-2005 05:43 PM

I am predicting you'll hit a squall line in the mid-west and then build up pressure again as you near the tropics.

Cheyanne 07-08-2005 05:53 PM

LMAO.... I don't squall.. I moan ;)

Lilith 07-08-2005 05:55 PM

:faint: and I think it would make him get all disorganized and he'd end up stalling over the midwest for quite some time :D

Cheyanne 07-08-2005 05:56 PM

:x:
