How come it says i can't post a new thread to 'Sex News'?
Can only Mods start new ones there?

Lilith 07-20-2004 03:16 PM

yes...has always been the case

Lilith 07-20-2004 03:20 PM

If you find something you think may belong there, you can PM or email a Mod or me.

Teddy Bear 07-20-2004 03:44 PM

Thanks... did not know that.

Will figure out how to get it to you. :)

On the Roleplaying board there are posts by Guests? How are thay able to post if they are not registered members??

Sharni 09-28-2004 02:20 AM

Not my section but i'm not sure all the board is member only.....Have they posted something objectionable? If so report it

I know the pic section is definately member only

Catch22 09-28-2004 02:39 AM

No nothing nasty, just wondered as whenever I post anything I always have to be logged in to post or you get a please sign in thing. That is on every board.

Is it just me, or has the chat board been REALLY slow to load for the past few days...usually between @8-10 am?

It has been slow with me at that time too.

Sharni 10-28-2004 01:23 PM

You mean the forum? or the chat?

The forum does have its slow moments for me too...but on a whole its pretty good

osuche 10-28-2004 01:31 PM

Forum, Sharni. It's sometimes taking me @2 minutes to load a thread....and I have Cable modem.

WildIrish 10-28-2004 01:49 PM

I had a few problems this morning too. Pages took a long time to pop up, or dropped entirely. DSL here. I don't usually have many problems, and the ones I normally get are because of pilot error.

Lilith 10-28-2004 03:39 PM

The owners are installing some new hardware and it may be affecting us.

dicksbro 11-15-2004 03:31 PM

Would that explain the pain in my .... er ... nevermind. :D

(sorry, the devil made me do it. ;)

wyndhy 01-04-2005 09:56 AM

recently discovered: the who's on-line page periodically refreshes, kepping you logged in; when you leave the 'puter for what you thought was only gonna be a few minutes but actually turned into hours, the posts don't show as having been read. just thought i'd share. "busy moms choose "who's on-line" :D

Cheyanne 01-07-2005 10:19 PM

I have been having periodic difficulties with some pic threads...some of the pics I can view and others won't even open for me on the same thread. Cobalt has had the same problem. It isn't all the time - we both have checked our temp files, etc and that isn't the problem. We have even completely shut down and then reloaded and tried the pics we couldn't see and they still won't open...any suggestions?

Lilith 01-07-2005 10:44 PM

You know I spoke with Cobalt before and I have no idea because I have absolutely no trouble opening those same threads/pics. Next time you can't open something will you please PM me immediately with the URL?

Yeah baaaaaaaby.. I just found out that Cobalt and I double (PM) teamed ya.. :lust: LMAO!!! :D

LixyChick 01-26-2005 07:15 PM

I've always resized any pics I've posted (taken personally...or from email) and keep them all the same size. Just now, I tried to post a few "resized" pics my sis sent me into a new thread...from an AOL account, but regardless...resized, as all my others are...and it says they are too big!

Has the posting size changed...or is AOL fucking with me again? And...how can they do that from an emailed pic? Geezzzzzzzzzz!

Lilith 01-26-2005 07:37 PM

File size has not changed.

Aqua 01-26-2005 07:44 PM

What size are the pics that wouldn't post? They shouldn't be changed from sending them through email. That is weird. Max posting size is 150KB.

LixyChick 01-28-2005 05:45 AM

Now that's where I get hung up. My knowledge of KB and all the other byte sizes is nil! In my photo program I have a "resize" button I click...and through trial and error, a long time ago, I figured a size that is compatible with this site. I usually take the largest number (example:1260x1045)...and keeping the pic in proportion (the program does it)...I resize the largest number to 500x____(<---whatever it comes out to be). It doesn't say what KB size that is...just that it's 500x____ (whatever). All I know is that they ALWAYS fit whenever I posted that size before...so it confused me when I kept getting the "too big" message.

To be honest...I've never known how to find out the size of anything...and only through this program can I "resize" something to be accepted here. If I right click and keep a pic in "save picture as" and rename it and then open my photo program and retrieve it from there and click my "resize" button in that program...it'll tell me that the pic size is ____x____...and choosing the largest number, be it the width or height, I leave the "keep proportion" button ticked and change the largest number to 500.

Does that make sense? I'll try again this morning, to post the new thread I was trying to post. If you don't see it up...you'll know I still couldn't do it...k?

Lilith 01-28-2005 05:52 AM

I know exactly what you are saying because that is how I normally do it too but while that is resizing the dimensional size of the pic to the permissible file size usually, it will not always because file size does not directly refer to the physical (pixels) size of the pic. That just happens to be one way to change a file's size. The other is to lessen the quality or compress it tighter. On my program I am also given the option to store it at various qualities. This will also change the file size. Sooooooo if you have photos taken at a higher resolution then some times you need to change both dimension and compression.

LixyChick 01-28-2005 06:17 AM

Oh...Good Morning Lil!

I accidently discovered how to determine the KB size of my pics...lol! In my documents (where I've stored these pics) I set my cursor over the pic to ponder the situation and lo and behold a box dropped down to tell me these BMP's were 500+KB. I was astounded...at the fact that I discoved this and at the actual size even after I "resized" them. So...I'm learning as I'm complaining...and I got them down to a suitable size to post!

TY Lil and Aqua...for bearing with me!

Now...as to lessening the quality and compressing???? OMG! I think my head'll explode if I try that so soon after my new discovery...lmao!

Lilith 01-28-2005 06:19 AM

Good job Lixy!!! Trial and error...you learn more that way.

.BMP are huge hun.....better resolution in the pics but large file size

If ya can save em as .jpg their size will drop dramatically

LixyChick 01-28-2005 06:37 PM

*curtsey*

TY everyone...I am so proud of me!

Um...Sharni? I love that idea...but what do I do to save them as .jpg? When I right click um...is that option available there? I didn't even know these were BMP's till that little box dropped down while I was pondering the situation...lol!

Geezzzzzz...I hate being dumb about something!

Sharni 01-28-2005 06:43 PM

When ya go to save them a box comes up that asks ya where ya want to save them (or it should *LOL*)

On that box is 'save in'...further toward the bottom is 'file name' under that is 'save as type'

'save as type'.....there is a drop down box there...click that and choose jpg

Hope that helps...if not ask hun

TY Shar! You've explained it perfectly for me. I can't wait for the chance to try it now!

*goes hunting for pics to *save*...lol!
