 One of the babies just tried to head-bump Momma but Momma pulled back so the cub ended up falling on his face! Poor baby!!!!
HA HA :D Momma gradually gets up and moves off cam for a stroll. Slowly a wobbly head raises from where she was laying. I think cub bones are rubber.
You learn something new every day : when Momma curls back her lip after licking the cubs, it's called the Flehmen response. Lions have a vomeronasal organ located on the roof of the mouth, and curling back her lip so helps expose the vomeronasal organ and draws scent molecules back toward it.
So even though she looks like she's going "Ew yuck ptoo-i", she's really smelling! |
Very interesting.
Isn't part of the mothers licking newborn and very young, to help stimulate the digestive and waste systems? That would correspond with the f'lehmening' action. |
Yup, I think so.
If it's just getting daylight there, I was watching but missed the 'active' period. :rolleyes2 I put the cam on 'pause' so my internet can work on something else, then peek back in every once in a while. When I click 'play', it first looks like mom was just flipped from one lazy position to another with photoshop and the cubs were redistributed like a beanbag toss.
:yikes:
First there were no cubs, now Sera (mom) is gone. I'm waiting for the zamboni to do some cleaning. |
They're all there for me - where did you learn her name is Sera?
They must have paid the ransom. They are back. :D
From here.
http://www.norwaypost.no/cgi-bin/no...maker?id=157389 The short note agrees with them being 2 weeks old now. :) (how can that be? I've been watching them for at least a month now :banghead: ) |
Oh cool! :D
They all back sleepers. Its funny to watch them stretch.
What the cubs are thinking: "Boy I hope Mama took her Bean-O"
^^^
One of the funniest is when she starts cleaning the over 4 pound cubs when they are trying to stand and they get flipped all over the place from that wreckingball tongue. :roflmao: |

That is does. I bottle fed 5 Cocker Spaniel and 8 Doberman puppies for a client for about a week. We rubbed their rumps and pee-ers with towels to get them to potty...interesting but kind of icky too. |
