... but you'll have enjoyed it. :)

Oldfart 06-07-2014 09:24 AM

It'll have more than enough headaches in it.

We'll probably be driven to drink by the end of it.

gekkogecko 06-07-2014 12:20 PM

By the end? I thought you were already there.

Lord Snow 06-07-2014 12:23 PM

Why would you drive to drink in your own home? You can walk to get there easy enough.

Oldfart 06-07-2014 04:30 PM

The house is 35km (about 22 miles) from here LS.

Shhh, GG. I'm building up a sympathy plea.

Yes Lil, the trusses have arrived before they've dug the pit. They will be punished.

The roof is going on with blinding speed. Once the house is rain-sheltered, they can start fit-out.

gekkogecko 06-14-2014 10:26 AM

"Blinding speed" ? Underdog is the roofing contractor?

Oldfart 06-14-2014 06:22 PM

Wouldn't that be a bitch? I know, Underdog is a boy . . . . .

dicksbro 06-15-2014 03:28 AM

OF, it's really looking good!

The Mrs. and I are really happy for you and M.

For those of you who can't "see" the structure, these are the plans.

Some pretty stuff. Notice how many screws are required under the building regs to make sure the iron sheets can't come loose during a cyclone.

gekkogecko 06-16-2014 06:42 AM

And for those of you about to complain that the house plan is posted upside-down, remember, he's posting from Australia, so it's correct for him.

Oldfart 06-29-2014 06:35 AM

There has been no visible change, I haven't forgotten to update this.

The cladding will be on in the next few weeks, so it'll look pretty soon.

Teddy Bear 06-29-2014 04:31 PM

hi OF,

Since I had to stand on my head to read the blue print I have a question. Is there a door from the Master bedroom directly to the veranda?

I think it'd be nice if Mrs OF could go from bed, right outside and you bring her a tray with breakfast. She will of course be in a sexy nighty waiting for you.

Hi Teddy Bear,

The Master Bedroom is furthest from the verandah and the pool. I can see us being lazy and crashing in Bedroom 1 which is closest to the pool.

We got to walk into the structure today and discuss some stuff with the builder.

The first sheets of Colour-Bond steel have been attached to the walls.

It looks way too green to be what we ordered. Enquiries are being made.

gekkogecko 07-04-2014 06:08 AM

But the color offsets the pinkish-brown dirt so nicely!

Oldfart 07-04-2014 06:45 AM

The soil here is very iron rich.

They are the final color or do they get painted?

Oldfart 07-04-2014 09:46 PM

It's the final colour, the whole point is not having to paint.

It is the right colour BTW.

She's nearly decent.

jseal 07-06-2014 04:26 AM

Looking good!

Oldfart 07-06-2014 07:05 AM

Thank you. The house is not bad either. :)

Lord Snow 07-06-2014 07:28 AM

I know you mentioned it's a mostly metal construction because you have termites on steroids, but what is done for rust prevention?

gekkogecko 07-06-2014 11:30 AM

LS, little known fact: the Australian termites shit rust preventative wherever they go.

Oldfart 07-06-2014 04:14 PM

GG's theory only goes so far. LS, The alloys used are rust resistant, and even though the sheet iron may need replacement each generation or so, the basic frame should last hundreds of years if required.

dicksbro 07-11-2014 03:03 PM

Are you planning on having a party when you get ready to replace the frame while the starship Enterprise glides by overhead?

Oldfart 07-12-2014 01:52 AM

Where do you think that most of the hull sheets, oops, I mean home cladding will come from, DB?

BTW, got the card last Thursday, thanks to Mrs DB and yourself.

dicksbro 07-12-2014 03:20 PM

You're very welcome! :thumb:

Wow, borrowing stuff from the Enterprise ... no doubt you'll be able to pour some brew at warp speed. :D

Oldfart 07-12-2014 08:13 PM

At rest, inpulse or warp, Guinness and port are lovely.

It's looking great OF...:)

gekkogecko 07-17-2014 08:48 AM

The workers didn't find any bodies when they were digging the pool, did they?

Oldfart 07-17-2014 03:43 PM

None that we've told the cops about. There was a wristwatch with "J Hoffa" on the back in there, but we hocked it for the gold. :)

dicksbro 07-18-2014 01:25 AM

OF, the house is looking GREAT! It's going to be a beautiful home!
