Southwest Houston is Tica's stomping grounds.
But, the Alaskan malamute is about to get a new neighbor -- a haunted house. But not your ordinary haunted house and Tica’s owner, Pam Benson, is not happy.
The Haunt XXX is billed as being an adult-themed haunted house, where women in nothing more than body paint will replace the goblins.
11 News: "You don't like that idea?"
Pam Benson: “I don't really care for it, no.”
Benson's worried about the traffic.
But we wondered about the business.
It's hard not to notice the big billboard, featuring a sexy woman.
So is Haunt XXX really a haunted house?
We pulled up the internet site shown on the billboard and found sponsors like Rick's Cabaret. Headlines like, "Houston's most titillating haunted house,” and women painted in neon and wearing next to nothing.
“There's sexy scenes and then a scare. Sexy scenes and then a scare,” said Haunt XXX promoter John Finlay.
11 News: Will this be a sexually oriented business?
Finlay: “Not at all."
The promoters of Haunt XXX, said Houston’s sexually oriented business laws don't apply to them, because the women are covered in paint.
So 11 News took the question straight to the top.
“And if we can, we're going to make sure they can't escape the law by trying to find some loophole,” said Houston Mayor Bill White.
This place has opened as a Haunted house in the past. But this season it has an erotic twist.
“Depending on the type of people that brings it will probably be even worse,” said Benson.
Just like the many haunted houses around town, Haunt XXX debuts this weekend.
The promoter says it's gotten all the proper permits.
City lawyers said they would definitely be checking this place out.
