We hear this expression from time to time.

My personal experience of this was when I was a seventeen year old on a trip to California. I was entitled to buy a semi-automatic rifle, but not cigarettes? Presumably cigarettes are dangerous for your health.

Anyway, my Pixie Pals, do you have a favourite "Only in America"?

My favorite "only in america" is the result of people I know through work. I was having a dinner/bar-b-que with family and friends from work. My wife is mexican, and I worked with an assistant manager who was from Korea. She happened to be a lesbian. So at dinner, we had a Korean-Mexican lesbian couple with twin daughters having dinner with a mixed-race couple and their immigrant parents, step-children, mixed race children, speaking spanglish, eating chinese food, italian food(pizza) and sushi.

I could only think, "Only in America!"

Jim

Course, I tried to keep it international with some "French" kisses and a promise of doing it greek style

Seeking an Internet cafe and being directed to Starbucks qualifies.

LMAO@mcjim623!

I always think...."Only in America"......when I am in a big city, (Philadelphia for example......the heart of the country and the home of the constitution or New York City....."Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses").......and I see a disheveled, obviously homeless man/woman......lying on the sidewalk in front of a posh restaraunt....while passer's by literally have to step over his/her feet to enter said establishment......and the look of disgust that comes over the face of the patron for being put off by this poor, tired sot. I dunno if this is a good example of "Only in America"......but it's what I think when I see this happen!

I think this too often says it all.:)

Two families move from Pakistan to America. When they arrive, the fathers make each other a bet -- in a year's time, whichever family has become more American will win.

A year later when they meet again, the first guy says, "My son is playing baseball, I had McDonald's for breakfast and I'm on my way to pick up a case of Bud for tonight. How about you?"

The second guy says, "F*ck you, towel-head!"

Lixy we have it too but it's a subsidiary of the Canada company. The sell to US too but it is widely suspected that the US tea is inferior.

On our honeymoon, my wife and I sat in an Italian restaurant...in Paris...and ordered in French...from a Chinese waiter! It's a miracle we got what we wanted.

It made me reconsider America's status of being the world's melting pot.

Only in America can you go to a fast food joint and watch someone order two burgers, a super large fry, two apple pies, and a DIET Coke!
