A coffinmaker who accidentally sawed his penis into six pieces is one of a number of Russians treated in a special clinic.
Emergency Care for Men only treats injuries to the male genitals and has been nominated for an award.
The coffinmaker was rushed into hospital after his circular saw got caught up in his trousers. His penis is now fully functioning.
Other cases include men who have had their penises bitten off by wives, lovers and dogs.
Emergency Care for Men was established at a Moscow hospital in 1999 and now stands to win the Prizvaniye Prize.
Professor Pyotr Shcheplev set up the department to develop the field of andrology, which focuses on the study of the male genitals, according to The Moscow Times
He sums up his mission, saying: "If a penis has some defect, it is a big psychological blow. It's a man's dignity."
The centre plans to hold seminars for doctors and emergency service workers to help increase their awareness of the injuries particular to men.
The winner of the Prizvaniye Prize is to be announced in June and will be awarded the equivalent of £6,871. Emergency Care for Men is one of seven nominees

as if the first cut wasn't bad enough... had to do it 5 more times just to get it right.... LOL... just kidding.. but DAMN... I would certainly hope that he had passed out from the pain and missed the last 5 cuts... but then again.. I wanna know who unplugged the saw.. cuz you know he wasn't up for it...

Ladies, with a circular saw.... that blade can make one swipe and twist and cut and twist and cut so quickly 6 pieces was a good result compared to the potential.

BigBear57,
I trust you are not speaking from experience?

Not the exact same experience but I did have a friend whose hand lost a battle to a circular saw. NOT a pretty sight.

okay... a hand.. I can see how that might happen... BUT... what guy in their right mind would allow their cock to be within stricking distance of a circular saw (or any saw for that matter)? YIKES... tooo much potential for disaster...

Well my initial impression would have been a handheld saw (those we rednecks refer to as "Skilsaws") cutting at just above waist height and at the end of the cut he allowed the saw to drop, either from fatigue or lack of attention. So many carpenters I know tie the safety shields back on these things. Lessons like these show the need for them. I guess another possibility could have been a benchtop table saw that wasn't secured and vibrations allowed it to tumble into the man after making a cut. Either way, I shudder at the thought every time.
In case you wonder, my father was a maintenance supervisor for over 20 years and I've worked in machining for as long so I've seen quite a few Einstein ideas turn tragic.

Jennaflower - I agree with you, what was that man thinking? And how stupid did he feel afterward? I thought men thought of their penis as their pride and joy - why put it anywhere close to anything sharp? JEEZ!

I understand the twist and cut part... but I agree w/ the other girls... What was the guy doing so close to the saw? My father was in carpentry for years and as a little girl I used to watch those shows... "THIS OLD HOUSE" - "BOB VILA" etc... so I know all the safety tips etc to prevent losing um lets say "appendages"... It just baffles me that this guy was so careless.... If you're tired shouldnt you take a break?

I once grabbed a commercial meat slicer at is fell off the counter! I was lucky to get away with a neat little sliver of skin shaved off my right hand. People do stupid things out of sheer reaction that they never would if they had time to stop and think about it.
That having been said...notice it was my hand that got cut and not my pecker?
